Limitations

Official data: DVSA anonymised MOT results (2023–2024), class 4 initial tests, cars at least 2.5 years old; fuel is DVSA's recorded fuel type (plug-in and self-charging hybrids are grouped). 73 Auto analysis: comparisons apply national rates for each test's age and mileage band. Most hybrid cars on the road are young, so older ages rest on fewer tests and early models. MOT results reflect maintenance, mileage and use as well as design, so a model's rank is not a reliability rating.
